CES:??????CULV?VAIO Y??

However, despite the upper VAIO Y notebook design, but an optical drive is not configured, and equipped with ultra-low voltage processor, the notebook is concerned, the size of this books is slightly too big. In addition, although this product is a solid and durable magnesium alloy chassis design, but with the VAIO Z notebook is different, VAIO Y position of the wrist is still dragging plastic materials and design, and another section of the keyboard is still very keen to follow Sony’s recent chocolate keyboard design.

Performance parts, this product can be described as law-abiding. VAIO Y is not a full-size design, it does not support 1080p high-definition video, gaming performance is more general, but compared to most of CULV notebook market is concerned, the performance of this product is still remarkable, and the machine is configured 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo processor, rather than with books in common with the CULV Core 2 single-core or Celeron processor; and battery life can be as high as 7 hours.

Prices is probably the Sony fans always pain, VAIO Y is equipped with 4GB of memory, 320GB hard drive model priced at 800 U.S. dollars, faster than this price, and an integrated optical drive conventional notebook has almost the same; while equipped with a 500GB hard drives, and Professional Edition operating system preinstalled Windows7, and is equipped with battery back-up high-end models are priced up to 1,000 U.S. dollars.

Apple Tablet PC Latest Release

?????????iPhone?? ????

Popular online Apple Tablet PC picture

According to technology blog site businessinsider.com reported sources, as compared with the first-generation iPhone, Apple Tablet PC larger, thinner body.

It is reported that Apple’s tablet PCs will be configured in-one aluminum shell, the body of the button and the same as the first-generation iPhone.

Lenovo on display at CES at the beginning of the two new IdeaPad the Y460 and home entertainment Y560, equipped with a Core i7/i5/i3 series of processors and Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series graphics cards, the performance of attention. Recently, Lenovo’s “Global Competitiveness analysts” Matt Kohut also disclosed in the company blog, these two models there will be a killer, and that is integration of solid-state drives and traditional hard edge “RapidDrive” intelligent hybrid hard drive technology.

Matt Kohut in Bo-wen, said recently in solid-state hard drive began to develop, there were many enterprises equipped with flash memory as a cache proposed a “hybrid hard drive” technology, able to take into account cost, speed and capacity. Although this technique has not been able to succeed in the actual product, but some users like the early adopters are already on their own to practice such an idea. For example his work with machines ThinkStation S20, using a 256GB SSD as the system disk, install Windows 7 and all the software, a 300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor 10000 transferred as a swap partition, store documents, pictures, etc. Finally, there is a 750GB 7200rpm hard drive store other files.

??IdeaPad????????????

According to his analysis, hybrid hard drive technology does not succeed in the market as long as the reasons are: First, although the prices have been falling, but flash memory prices are still much higher compared to traditional hard drives. Second, the flash memory capacity is not big enough. Because users can not buy (or afford) 2TB solid-state hard drive, so even if the selected solid-state storage, installation of software, or to deliberate whether or not put it in the space of valuable solid-state hard drive. Moreover, this option only to those “knowledgeable” of the players to do, ordinary users may not clear about the C drive / D drive or SSD / HDD difference, so most people choose this solid-state drive + the configuration of a traditional hard drive positive is unrealistic.

It is precisely because of this reason, Lenovo has developed a RapidDrive technology, and first applied to IdeaPad Y560/Y460 notebook. Models using the technology in the Mini PCI-E interface is installed on a 32GB or 64GB solid-state hard drive, while still using a traditional HDD drives. RapidDrive technology unique is that users do not need to consider what files are stored in the SSD, on which the file is stored in the HDD. System from a user’s point of view, only one hard drive, RapidDrive algorithm will automatically optimize the speed and capacity of the coordination of the completion of the work of those who require frequent reading and writing small pieces of data will be moved to solid-state hard drive and need long-term storage of large files will be In the traditional hard drive to save, exchange of data between the two at any time.

??IdeaPad????????????

Lenovo said, RapidDrive and Intel have put forward a completely different TurboMemory Turbo Memory does not require human intervention, and more automation. In addition, RapidDrive in the solid-state storage space is also much greater than the Turbo Memory. According to association tests, two similarly configured notebooks IdeaPad Y560, a hybrid hard drive using the RapidDrive, a traditional hard drive only. When the load at the same time a group of large-scale program, RapidDrive models took only 13 seconds, the traditional models are used by about 30 seconds to complete.

Lenovo RapidDrive technology is currently patent pending, is expected early in March IdeaPad Y460/Y560 market, the technology will be introduced as an optional configuration.

lrg_messagesFostering a sense of local community in the age of Internet and globalization is no easy task.

A new venture called BlockChalk from the former product lead of del.ici.ous Stephen Hood and Dave Baggeroer of Stanford’s Institute of Design, is trying to tackle that problem. BlockChalk is a service that lets people leave messages for others  in the neighborhood without compromising their privacy. You can leave opinions about local businesses, set up deals with other neighbors or even report a lost cat. Hood says it’s already in 10,000 neighborhoods and 6,600 cities.

Today they’ve launched an iPhone app so you can keep track of short notes or the latest “chalks” in your neighborhood. The company already has a HTML5 web app that works with the iPhone and Android-based phones and an app for the Palm Pre and Pixi.

The criticism that the pair have for existing location-based services is that they work for early adopters who have lower expectations of privacy, but they may not be so readily accepted by consumers that are more guarded. Anonymity, of course, raises other issues. How do you seed a social networking service without real or tangible relationships built-in? How can people be engaged if there’s no context for the others they’re interacting with? That said, there are anonymous community sites that have thrived like Craigslist.

We’ve seen other attempts at building information services for local communities. EveryBlock, which was acquired by MSNBC, just launched a ‘Notify Your Neighbors’ function yesterday to let regular people share updates about what’s happening on their block. ‘Neighborhoods’ was another early Facebook application launched in 2007 that had an intriguing concept because it was tied to real identities and places through the social network. But it only has a little over 8,000 monthly active users. Then, of course, there’s the grand-daddy of them all, Craigslist, which does have a mobile web site.

The pair say they’re looking for seed funding for the project.

Graphic.ly Desktop ReaderLike many of you reading this post, more and more of my media consumption is moving online, where I get most of my news, movies, music, television, and even some of my books. One of the last areas where I’m holding onto the physical object is comic books — but a startup called Graphic.ly may change that.

I’ve tried reading comic books as images files, as PDF documents, and as iPhone apps, but none of them combined good image quality with a smooth reading experience. (The less said about the ungodly hybrid known as “motion comics,” the better.)

But Boulder, Colo.-based Graphic.ly says it has created a slick comics app, as a native application for Windows 7, as a cross-computer app using Adobe AIR, and as an iPhone app. In addition to comics reading, Graphic.ly offers social features and a digital comics store, and it plans to include DVD-style extras too — like the ability to see individual art layers (the pencil drawings without ink or color, for example) or comments from creators.

Now, I haven’t had a chance to try the app out myself, but I’m hopeful after my conversations with co-founders Micah Baldwin and Kevin Mann. They’re knowledgeable comics fans and have clearly spent a lot of time thinking about the reading experience. Microsoft must have been impressed too, because Graphic.ly was demonstrated on-stage (very) briefly during Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer’s keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Showing off Windows 7’s touchscreen capabilities, the demonstrator smoothly swiped between different comics pages.

Graphic.ly is rolling out a very early Windows 7 version of its app, first to members of comic site iFanboy in a couple days, then to the general public two weeks later. Baldwin says he’ll be incorporating a lot of fan feedback. In fact, if Graphic.ly decides to incorporate your suggestion, the company will invite you to sit in on the relevant engineering meetings.

Graphic.ly was incubated by TechStars, and just raised $1.2 million led by DFJ Mercury, with participation from Starz Media and individual investors David Cohen, Chris Sacca, Jack Nickell, Paige Craig, and Dave McClure. It’s also part of Microsoft’s BizSpark One program, which provides startups with free software and other resources — including on-stage demos at CES, if you’re really lucky.

panasonicPanasonic opened its press event with a video conference of its chairman Fumio Ohtsubo talking from Osaka, Japan, with a crystal clear high-definition image on a big screen. That high-end video conferencing system will be in the market in April. But the real push at the Japanese company is — you heard many times before already — 3-D TV.

Just like Samsung, Panasonic is launching a whole ecosystem of products around 3-D. The company is launching everything needed to push 3-D, which has become a hot ticket thanks to the success of James Cameron’s Avatar film in movie theaters. These Panasonic products, from TVs to glasses to cameras, will help stoke the use of 3-D.

Panasonic said that content for 3-D is coming. DirecTV said that it will launch three 3-D channels over its satellite TV service by the end of June, 2010. Panasonic made an early effort to launch 3-D TVs and said last year that it would debut a line-up of such TVs for 2010. Now it’s following through on that with a bunch of new models.

nexus flashAdd another reason to the list of why iPhone users in particular may want to consider switching to the Nexus One, the new Android phone built by HTC and sold directly by Google: Like other Android phones, and unlike the iPhone, Nexus One owners should eventually be able to view Flash content in the phone’s browser.

Flash is Adobe’s platform for web video and other media — Adobe says Flash powers 75 percent of web video and 70 percent of online games. Last fall, Adobe announced that Flash would be coming to pretty much every smartphone except the iPhone. While Flash developers will be able to export their content as an iPhone app, most of the web’s Flash content won’t show up on the iPhone.

And now Adobe’s Adrian Ludwig has posted a video demo of Flash in the Nexus One’s web browser. It’s always risky to judge without playing with this stuff in-person, but I was impressed with how fast it all worked, even when playing a browser-based action game.

To be clear, Flash isn’t available yet on the Nexus One. Adobe has said it plans to make Flash available on Android early this year, and in the video Ludwig adds:

We’ve got a lot more work to do to get this ready. But if you go out there right now, you can buy a Nexus One, begin using it, and as Flash Player becomes available we’re going to push it to you over the web.

wowWorld of Warcraft might be coming back online in China. A feud between regulators has left the popular massively mulitplayer online game on the sidelines since mid-September.

That means WoW’s four million players in China have had to get their game addiction fix through some other means. China’s General Administration of Press and Publications agency and the Ministry of Culture have reportedly come to an agreement about whether NetEase, which operates the game on behalf of Activision Blizzard’s Blizzard Entertainment division in China, has been operating with a proper license or not.

The story in an online journal said that an unnamed insider said that the two sides agreed that regulations were broken and a punishment will be announced in mid-January. Lots of rumors have surfaced alleging Chinese officials wanted bribes, but no one has verified that. GAPP told NetEase in September to stop charging for WoW accounts in mid-September and stopped a review of the WoW expansion pack, the Burning Crusade.

It’s anybody’s guess as to how much this has cost Activision Blizzard. If it gets about $5 a month from each of the four million players it had in China, that’s about $20 million a month in lost revenues. In this three-month hiatus, that adds up to $60 million lost, not counting the shutdown from earlier in the year.

thinkpad edgeLenovo is kicking off the new year with a series of new ThinkPad laptops for small businesses, including a number of low-cost options that include chips from Advanced Micro Devices. Lenovo is also offering a first for its business users: the choice of color in a laptop.

The ThinkPad Edge, debuting at the Consumer Electronics Show, has a new industrial design that brings some of the sexy look of  consumer laptops to small business machines. The Windows 7 machine comes in black and “heat wave red.

This color option is a big step, since Lenovo has been identified with conservative business designs forever (including the days when ThinkPad belonged to IBM). The company says the machines are still built for performance, productivity, reliability and security.

But the marketing folks have noticed that people tend to take pride in having cool-looking laptops, whether they’re business people or not, said Charles Sune, worldwide segment manager at Lenovo, in an interview. The whole goal is to re-energize the ThinkPad brand, which some view as strait-laced.

The choice of AMD Turion X2 and Athlon X2 processors in some of the machines is an important victory for AMD, which needs all of the design wins it can get in its battle with Intel. Lenovo has a lot of market share and it has been an Intel shop on its ThinkPad business line, although it has used AMD chips in consumer models. It shows that Lenovo is paying attention to the price-consciousness of recession-battered small businesses.

It’s clear why the AMD machines are cheaper. With a four-cell battery, the Edge gets 3.7 hours of battery life with an AMD chip and 5.9 hours with a six-cell battery. With an Intel processor, it gets 5.9 hours with a four-cell and 8.9 hours with a six-cell.

Lenovo is participating in the AMD Vision Pro branding campaign, which seeks to simplify the selling process for small business owners by classifying the computers into simple usage categories. Prices start at $549.

The Edge machines also have a choice of high resolution cameras, optional 3G and 4G wireless, Skype for Internet calling and other features. There are four models in the Edge series, including models with 13 inch, 14 inch, and 15 inch screens. The laptops are smaller since Lenovo removed the numbered keypads on the keyboard. The 14-inch and 15-inch models (both available in the second quarter) will come with illuminated keyboards so you can see the keys on a darkened airplane. The 14-inch version will be available at Best Buy, a new channel for Lenovo.

thinkpad xLenovo is also launching its first entry in the “ultraportable” laptop market, the ThinkPad X100e (right). The company bills the laptop as the first professional-grade ultraportable laptop below $500. It also uses an AMD processor and the AMD Vision Pro branding. Options include AMD Athlon Neo single-core or dual-core processors (cores refer to how many processing brains are on each chip). The laptop is available now and sells for as little as $449.

The machine can run corporate operating systems such as Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, and it comes with Lenovo’s corporate-focused manageability features. It has an 11.6-inch display, a full-sized keyboard, and a choice of black or heatwave red colors. While it’s small, Lenovo is not calling it a “netbook” because it can run most applications, and it isn’t using Intel’s Atom processors.

But for those who want the tried and true “classic” ThinkPad, Lenovo is offering four new models. These are the T410s, T410, T510, and the W510 (a mobile workstation). They will use Intel’s newest dual-core microprocessors and are built for performance. The machines weigh under three pounds and have 802.11n Wi-Fi, and optional Bluetooth and 3G.

The battery life is as high as 22 hours, and the screens include options for multitouch. The 410s is aimed at extremely mobile users; the T410 and T510 are aimed at mainstream business users who want full performance; and the W510 is aimed at professionals in graphics-demanding fields like oil and gas, computer-aided design, and photography.

It’s worth noting how much thought Lenovo puts into these machines. The company’s research found that average users hit the delete and escape keys up to 700 times a week on average. So the sizes of these keys have been increased on the T410s and T410 models. The models are available on Jan. 7 and are priced as follows: $1,399 for T410s, $999 for T410 and the T510, and $1,599 for the W510.

Here’s our rundown of the week’s business and tech news. (Due to the holiday-shortened week, I’m including fewer posts than usual.) First, the most popular stories VentureBeat published in the last seven days:

google-robotNine startups dreams and industries Google crushed in 2009 – A lot of folks, from tiny startups to companies in established industries, found themselves in the search behemoth’s path this year. We looked back some of the dreams that were destroyed.

Apple’s new gadget is an e-reader, says latest rumor — There are reports that Apple’s new tablet computer has a specific purpose: It’s a Kindle-killer designed for reading books, magazines, and news on-the-go.

These are the ten best video games of the decade, dammit! — VentureBeat games writer Dean Takahashi compiles a list of his favorite games from the past 10 years, supposedly because his “annoyance [with other best of decade lists] built up so that it overflowed” and he “felt compelled to retaliate” by creating his own list.

Droid clobbers other Android phones in Xmas app downloads — More evidence that the new Droid is the king of the Android phones: On Christmas Day, the number of Android app downloads from the new Droid phones roughly equaled the number of downloads from all leading Android phones combined, according to a report from app market analysts Flurry.

And here are four more stories we thought were important, thought-provoking, or fun:

myspacePeering into MySpace’s collective consciousness with real-time search — We look at the differences in how conversations play out on different online communities. Of course, our comparison is extremely unscientific, but it support speculation that class divisions are playing out on the web.

Our favorite horribly wrong or amusing tech covers — As everyone makes predictions about 2010 and beyond, we tried to provide some perspective by reminding readers of decades of bad predictions from the tech press. We’ll have our own predictions up soon, and some will certainly be wrong, but hopefully they won’t deserve too much ridicule a decade from now.

Stealthy C3 raises $26M to manage carbon, but what will it actually be doing? — C3 already seems to be setting itself apart by recruiting heavyweights like former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham for its board. The star power isn’t surprising, considering that the San Mateo, Calif., company was founded by Thomas Siebel — the man who sold Siebel Systems to Oracle for $5.7 billion.

Does voice-to-text technology actually work? — Voice-to-text technology is entering more and more industries, and has the potential to make recording, dictating and communicating a whole lot faster. But after trying out the different services available now, it’s clear that they’ve still got a long way to go.

Here’s the latest from VentureBeat’s Entrepreneur Corner:entrepreneur-corner

Venture Capital 2010: Hot (and cold) sectors to watch – Grotech Ventures Steve Fredrick and Don Rainey general partners give their take on the VC outlook for this year – as well as their predictions on the areas that are likely to show the most significant growth (and consolidation).

Eight trends to look for in 2010 – This year may not be as tumultuous as 2009, but it could still hold its share of surprises. Dave Kellogg, CEO of Mark Logic, looks at what 2010 holds for social networks, cloud computing and Google, among others.

Should you sell your business in 2010? – While selling a company is never easy, doing so in 2010 should be slightly easier than it was in 2009, says John Ovrom. The founder and CEO of Exit and Answers gives his thoughts on M&A activity, the financing situation and why the franchise business could be red hot.

The start-up chronicles: Reflecting on reflecting – It’s easy to feel productive when you’re working hard – but spending a lot of time on a project doesn’t mean it’s beneficial to your business. Bruce Judson looks at the importance to stopping to evaluate what you’re doing and learning the discipline of strategic thinking.

Startup therapy: Six questions to ask yourself regularly – You read plenty of stories telling you what to do – but how do you identify what you need to do now to grow your business? Angel investor Jason Cohen puts you on the couch to give you six questions you should be asking yourself.

(Editor’s note: Jason Cohen is an angel investor and the founder of Smart Bear Software. This story originally appeared on his blog.)

Therapists don’t tell you what to do. Rather, they ask probing questions that get you to discover for yourself what is true for you, your situation, and what you want.lucy

You’re smart. You’ll make good decisions. But you also get bogged down in daily minutiae and putting out fires, meanwhile missing the big picture. That’s where this piece comes in: To splash cold water on your face, forcing you to face reality and continue to defend or change the important choices inside your business.

What follows is your startup therapy session. Having to think through and answer these questions forces you to identify what you need to do today to seek profits and growth.

In one sentence, what does your product do and who buys it? And in one sentence, why does someone buy your product?
These are surprisingly difficult questions. The shorter and more precise your answers, the more you understand why you exist. If the answer is:  ”I honestly don’t really know why people give us money,” that’s something to remedy immediately.

If you have an answer, is it because you have hard evidence that this is how your customers perceive you and why they give you money, or just because you believe it? “Evidence” means emails and Tweets and testimonials that use those words exactly; otherwise you’re likely interpreting their feedback to match your expectations. (I find myself constantly guilty of this disconnect.) If you don’t have evidence, it is OK to have a hypothesis but you should be concerned about collecting proof and disproof.

If you do know the answer, these two sentences should drive your marketing efforts. If these sentences aren’t on your home page, why the hell aren’t they? Is there anything else more compelling to potential customers? At the least, these represent the themes that drive your marketing campaigns.

What one thing is most responsible for preventing sales?

Do people not know you exist? Is it pricing? Not enough product features? Unorganized sales strategy? The look-and-feel of website? Something else?

Most little companies aren’t honest about this, yet it’s possibly the most important question you could ask. For example, I’m an engineer, so my first answer to “Why don’t you have more customers?” is almost always:  ”Because we need this feature.” You hear some potential customer say, “we will buy if you do XYZ” so you conclude that if you implemented XYZ people would start breaking your door down.

But is that really the case? If you added one feature and maybe satisfied that one customer (assuming they wouldn’t ask for a second thing – which, in my experience, they usually do), would that get you 100 more sales? For those hundreds of people who downloaded your software, but never bought — is the reason “not enough features?”

For the hundreds of thousands of people who never came to your website in the first place, or hit the front page and left after three seconds, is the solution “more features?”

When you honestly ask yourself this question, it will naturally lead into things you can do right away to get more people to the site, into a trial and/or into a sale. Don’t just rest on what comes easiest.

What’s one thing you could do to get more feedback from customers, potential customers or sales you’ve lost?
You already know that external feedback is the only way to empirically determine how to build products people want to buy. Maybe you can’t drop everything to solicit feedback (although folks like Eric Ries say you should), but surely it’s worth one day every month to go out of your way to collection information from the field.

To get the ideas flowing, here are eleven ways to get more feedback, most of which take less than a day to implement.

If you had zero revenue from now on, on what date would you run out of money?

The first thing this does is force you to nail down your monthly expenses and accounts payable. Second, you know the length of your fuse even in event of disaster (if you have revenue) or if you never manage to land a customer (if you’re just starting out).

More than that, knowing your “padding” as I used to call it is helpful in making decisions like “Can I afford to try this Risky Expensive Thing,” such as making your first hire or trying a $20,000 media blitz. Whenever you’re contemplating a new expensive idea that could be awesome but could be setting money on fire, your fuse date helps you know how much time you’re risking — time to recover if your bet doesn’t pay off.

Finally, knowing “the day my business could die” helps focus your attention on activities that bring in revenue.

If someone handed you $100,000 today, how would you spend it to maximize future profits?
This gets you to crystallize what cost-centric activities would most help your business. We get caught up in free-but-takes-tons-of-time marketing and development activities — and most of the time that’s a good way to think — but sometimes it’s still true that “you have to spend money to make money.”

Sometimes the “thing you could do” is so compelling, it might mean you should raise a small angel round or consider debt. Typically it’s best to get by with minimal debt and investment, but if the “thing you could do” is transformative, you might reconsider.

Think about these. We’ll do a follow-up session next Friday…
